Hardware storage outside cultivation periods
Recommended steps for (outdoor) growers on what to do with the Growficient hardware between growing seasons
Sensors
- Remove the sensors from the container, pot, trough, or slab
- Place the pink foam blocks on the pins immediately after removing the sensor to protect both the sensor and yourself. If you can't find the foam blocks, contact Growficient (support@growficient.com) to order them.
- Clean the casing, antenna and pins with alcohol or Virkon
- Store the sensors in the pink foam blocks in a dry place, preferably at a temperature of around 20°C (68°F), which is optimal for preserving the battery
- Inspect the sensors and antenna for any visible damage. If any damage is visible, please contact Growficient (support@growficient.com) for further action.
Gateway
Note: The following is applicable to outdoor growers
Although the enclosure is waterproof, we recommend storing the gateway in a dry indoor location. This prevents the gateway against harsh weather and the impact of lightning strikes.
Please follow the steps that apply to your gateway installation.
Pole or building installation
- Turn the gateway off by pulling out the power plug
- Removing the gateway from the building or pole is highly recommended
- Inspect the gateway, antenna, and cables for any visible damage. If any damage is visible, please contact Growficient (support@growficient.com) for a fix before the new growing cycle.
- Store the gateway at a dry indoor location
Sea container installation
- Turn off the gateway by pulling out the power plug
- Remove the antenna cable from the gateway to prevent any damage from a (neighbouring) lightning strike
- Inspect the gateway, antenna, and cables for any visible damage. If any damage is visible, please contact Growficient (support@growficient.com) for a fix before the new growing cycle.
Before the next cultivation cycle
Before reinstalling the hardware:
- Reinstall the hardware according to the installation instructions.
- Check if the gateway comes back online and has two green lights. If not, please check the lights (see Connectivity problems with the gateway -article for instructions), and take appropriate action. Contact Growficient Support via support@growficient.com if you have any issues.
- Review your Growboard structure and update it if any changes have been made to your cultivation setup since the previous season
- Verify that all sensors are reporting data correctly in Growboard after installation
