Heatmap: What and Why?

What is the heatmap? Why is there a heatmap on the Growboard? What can I see on the heatmap? What should I use the heatmap for?

This article explains the use of the heatmap.

What is the heatmap?

The heatmap shows where your sensors and gateways are placed at your facility in the form of a map. The base of the heatmap is the Google Maps view of your facility onto which you can add pins. Each pin you set represents a sensor or a gateway. 

Why was the heatmap designed?

The heatmap is a way to visualize data for a quick and easy overlook. The visual method of showing data helps to detect trends and keep an eye on the differences across your facility. Sometimes it alerts you of an accidental open vent by showing a trend of cooler temperatures in one part of the facility. Sometimes it shows drain blockages in the form of high water content. This will be displayed as different colors.  For example, below is an example of EC differences in different shades of blue:

How to set up the heatmap?

You can set the heatmap up from your dashboard. The pins that represent the sensors are added through the placement settings. To access the placement settings, please open the levels of the Growboard until you see the placement/sensor and click on the three dots to find 'Admin options'. Select 'Edit placement'.

Note! You must be an admin to make the following changes. If you do not have admin rights  please contact your location admin or support@growficient.com to change this. 

 

This will open the placement editing view. Here you can either type the coordinates in or click 'Pick coordinates on map' to use the map tool.

 

Choosing to pick the coordinates through the map will open the following view:

Here you can drag the pin where the sensor is placed in at your facility. Click 'OK' when the pin is in place and repeat for the other sensors.

 

How to use the heatmap?

The upper right corner will show you which measurement you are viewing and what the color of the pin means:

You can include the numerical values through this toggle on the left upper corner

 

Hovering your mouse over a pin will show you the numerical measurement even if the values-toggle is off

 

The timeline toggle at the bottom allows you to view the past 7 days of data

 

That's it! You are now ready to use the heatmap.
