How do I move a sensor and its data?

You can move sensors together or without their data. This article details how to move the sensor and its data together to another placement.

This method is recommended when you're moving sensors around, but not starting an entirely new cycle, trial, or project. In these cases, we recommend keeping the data with the placement, not the sensor.  Note! You must be an admin to make the following changes. If you do not have admin rights please contact your location admin or support@growficient.com to change this.  

Step 1: Locate where you want to move the sensor

In this example, we will move a sensor from Compartment 1 to Compartment 2.

 

Step 2: Locate the sensor you want to move

Open all the sublevels until you see the sensor in the placement. In this example, we will move Row 1 -Left from Compartment 1 - Zone 1 to Compartment 2 - Zone 4.

 

Step 3: Open the placement admin menu

Click on the three dots ⋮ on the placement/sensor level and click on 'Admin options' and 'Edit placement' to open the placement menu.

 

Step 4: Move the sensor

Select the compartment and section you want to move the sensor to from the drop-down menu under 'Section'. 

This sensor was originally in Compartment 1 - Zone 1, but we are moving it to Compartment 2 - Zone 4, so we must click on 'Compartment 2' to find the correct zone.

 

Step 5: Confirm the changes

Once you have selected the new location, confirm your change from the 'OK' button in the right bottom corner. This is where you can also edit the name and coordinates of the sensor.

Once you click 'OK', the Growboard will ask you to confirm again that the sensor and its data can be moved. Click 'OK' to accept the change.

 

 Done! The sensor is now connected to the new placement.

  • New data will become visible approximately 5-10 minutes after reassignment
  • This method is recommended when moving sensors around in the same cycle
